South Devon – Salcombe

This project involved a geotechnical investigation into a steep site with limited access along the slopes of the Kingsbridge Estuary.

The main objectives were to:

Identify rock head depth and orientation in order to determine foundation techniques
Classify bedrock and overlying soils, including their strength, type and bearing capacities
Provide recommendations for a suitable and economic foundation for the residential development
In order to achieve these objectives, Terra Firma (South) engineers worked together to provide innovative solutions, including the utilization of the Premier Modular 100 rig which can be taken apart into manageable pieces in order to drill in otherwise inaccessible areas of the site.

Solutions such as these allow Terra Firma (South) to provide their clients with vital information on ground conditions, which otherwise may not be recoverable.
